Great America slogans

Here were the Marriott's Great America slogans from 1976 to 1984 that I know of:
1976/1977: "The Fun Country" ("It's a country of fun, for everyone, it's Marriott's Great America...")
1978/1979: "Have a Great Day"/"It's a Great Day"
1980: "What a day, what a place, what a smile on your face, at Marriott's Great America"/"The Demon Awaits You"
1981: "Maybe a great day is just what you need this year"
1982: "Go hand in hand in hand"
1983: "You're a Great American Dad"/"You can have a terrible, terrific, good time at Great America"
1984: "Get Carried Away"

1978 and 1979 were more like "We've got a GREAT day just waiting for you". Among the Marriott's GREAT AMERICA advertising campaigns, I like those from "The Fun Country" through "Maybe a great day is just what you need this year" the best. I also like "Get Carried Away". I'll see about getting it put onto the site in the near future.

This may be a tag line to another slogan, but the one slogan I recall was...

The rides are great! The shows are great! The fun is great! Discover Marriott's Great America!

JW65: The "rides are great..." line you gave was from the same 1976/1977 "Country of Fun" jingle for Great America.

My sister and I were chatting on the phone today, talking about what we were going to do this weekend and she happened upon the patter of one of the commercials for MGA..."well, we COULD clean out the GARAGE...." "Yeah,.... or we could go to Marriott's Great America!!!" Now THAT put a smile on my face!

Cynically, we used to sing, "The rides are broke, the show's a joke, pay a dollar for a Coke! Discover Marriott's Great America!"

(We thought we were so cool back then...!)

Now that I think about "The rides are great, the shows are great, the fun is great" seems like it came from Cedar Point's "Great Park, Great Lake, Great Day"
