Gurnee tore out the original Marriott ticket booths during the off season. Sorry to cross-link to another site Steven, but I felt this one was relevant.

It's kind of depressing to think that this is being done so they can install a giant bank of metal detectors to streamline people getting in to the park. Different times.

Yeah, this was depressing for me as well. You'd think they could have at least sold off parts of it to enthusiasts. Oh, well.
At least the new metal detector entrance has some class to it, unlike Six Flags St. Louis, which is a tarp/tent. No, it's not nearly as intricate as the original ticket booths, but it at least invokes the same imagery, and matches the rest of the entrance:

More pix of the entrance. The unused former stroller rental building on the left has been renovated to house the new ticket sales area. Also, pix of Hometown Square and its railroad station hill being prepped to accommodate igNight:

Re: A Little More Marriott Era Gone from Gurnee
The ticket sales building was in pretty sad shape. Years of neglect resulted in leaky roofs and lots of rotting wood trim. Lighting fixtures were rusting and would short out. Most of the electrical hook ups and computer connections were pretty much patch shops.
Sad to see it go but the buildings were in rough shape and probably better to replace than try to renovate.
The PICTORIUM is also is pretty rough shape. Anyone have info on that building?
