DAZZLING NEW SHOWS CATCH GREAT AMERICA’S SPOTLIGHT

Gurnee, Illinois

The curtain is always going up at Marriott’s Great America. From a musical extravaganza and acrobatic dolphins to colorful marching bands and Bugs Bunny, the 1981 stage is set to provide the best family entertainment in the Midwest.

The dazzling talents of the Great America Singers are showcased in the new, 1981 production of “Music! Music! Music!”, a 45-minute musical tour of the United States, with songs and dances that capture the flavor of favorite American cities. An energetic troupe of 22 young performers present “Music! Music! Music!” several times daily in Hometown Square’s Grand Music Hall.

In the Theatre Royale in Orleans Place, Bugs Bunny and his zany Looney Tunes pals have concocted a hilarious new show of delightful songs and silly antics called “The Bugs Bunny Show”. The entire family will enjoy this all-character revue that blends live action and animation.

Nemo and Neptune, Great America’s dynamic dolphin duo, head for the hills of Yukon Territory’s Wilderness Theater in a new, country-style revue that showcases their amazing acrobatic abilities, while the sensational effects of the IMAX film system capture the imagination of guests visiting the Pictorium Theater, home of the world’s largest indoor motion picture screen.

That toe-tapping piano music floating from the Snowshoe Saloon in Yukon Territory is the flashy fingerwork of Foghorn Leghorn, Great America’s fully-animated piano player and a new addition to the 1981 show entertainment line-up.

The entertainment and music continue along the park’s walkways, where Great America’s Marching Band can be seen playing for Bugs Bunny and his Looney Tunes pals, who love to dance with unsuspecting park guests. The smooth rhythmic sounds of the Bones jazz band color the exciting atmosphere of the American Eagle Arena, while guests eating in the Farmer’s Market food emporium can enjoy lively musical entertainment provided by another talented Great America band. An authentic Dixieland band entertains guests near the Orleans Bandstand and Theatre Royale.

To top off the day’s entertainment, starting in June, the merriment and spectacle of Bugs Bunny’s Looney Tunes Parade winds through Hometown Square, Carousel Plaza, and Orleans Place.

Marriott’s Great America, located midway between Chicago and Milwaukee on Interstate 94, is now open for its sixth season of family fun.
